How To Ship A Car

Majority of our population may only ship a car once or twice in their lifetime. Because of this fact, many don’t know how to ship a car. Heck, some don’t even know where to start. That is where I come in. I want to help people with the ins and outs of the car shipping industry. When it comes to shipping a car,. it can be done in just 4easy-to-follow steps.

Step 1 | Do An Online Search

Step 1 is to go online to your favorite search engine and search for your auto transport need. An Exmaple of this would be: how to ship a car from Houston to Tampa. This search will bring up 2–3 ads on the top of the screen and then usually 10 organic listings. Usually clicking an organic listing is best because these companies have been around a long time and the search engine has placed the companies in order they feel is best to the customers intent.

Step 2 | Get Quotes & Pick A Company

Step 2 is simply pick 2 or 3 companies from the search engine list and get a quote from each. 95% of the companies you’ll get a quote from will be a broker company. So the price SHOULD be similiar. The haulers that are choosen might even be the same depending on when they start the search to find an auto hauler. The only major difference would be their customer service. So, pick the company you feel is best or the one with the best reviews online. Only pick 1 vehicle transport company to search for a hauler. Nearly every broker company is going to use Central Dispatch to find you a hauler for your vehicle. Because of this, yuo don’t want to have brokers competing becaise they they continue to post your vehicle for more money and in the end you’ll pay a higher amount. Just pick 1 company you feel comfrtable with and stick with them.

Step 3 | Approve Hauler & Meet The Hauler

Step 3 happenes when the broker company you chose found an auto hauler for your vehicle. You’ll know who is picking up your vehicle and the approximate day they will be picking up your vehicle. Because this isn’t FedEx or UPS no one can pin point a time frame so far ahead. The auto hauler called 1–2 hours prior to picking up your vehicle. Then you’ll meet the auto hauler, go over your vehicle for any scratches or dents and sign a bill of lading and received a carbon copy of that doc you signed. This piece of paper basically states that you have given your vehicle to the company to transport and this is the condition of your vehicle when hey picked it up.

Step 4 | Receive Your Vehicle Upon Delivery

Step 4 is the last and easiest step; delivery. The auto hauler will give you a 1–2 day window for delivery when they pick up the vehicle and they will reach back out to you 1–2 hours prior to delivery. When the auto hauler arrives for delivery you’ll go over your vehicle again to make sure you vehicle is in the same condition as it was when you gave it to them. The vehicle will be dirty, it just traveled hundreds or thousands of miles on an auto carrier and exposed the the elements. You’ll then sign the bill of lading again and receive the second carbon copy. Then you’ll make your final payment to the hauler for their work.

Conclusion

Once you have paid the hauler upon delivery the entire process is done. Shipping a car is really easy if you follow the 4 steps listed above.
